Jonathan Saiger
Jonathan S. Saiger currently serves as a Senior Operations Advisor within the Infrastructure, Environment, and Private Sector Division at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). His primary focus lies in energy investments, encompassing activities related to proposal evaluation and project oversight for grants to eligible program countries.
Over the past 19 years, Mr. Saiger has been involved in diverse projects across various sectors, including ports, airports, energy (gas and electricity), roads, healthcare facilities, tourism, education, water, and sanitation. These initiatives have spanned multiple MCC-eligible countries, including Benin, Georgia, Kosovo, Lesotho, Liberia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Zambia.
Mr. Saiger currently leads the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s $202 million grant to Kosovo for the grant’s energy storage project. This grant also supports technical assistance for Kosovo’s transition towards renewable energy sources. The energy storage project facilitates the procurement of batteries for Kosovo’s transmission system operator that will provide frequency restoration and regulation. Additionally, it aids a new public enterprise in delivering various energy storage functions to the Kosovo grid. His dedication to this program earned Mr. Saiger the Presidential Medal of Merits from Kosovo. He is also the Project Lead for The Gambia Threshold Program’s policy and institutional reform project using Problem Driven Iterative Adaptation to promote the power sector’s institutional improvement.
