
Eike Ahrens
Eike is Associate Director in Berenberg´s Infrastructure and Energy team. He has played a crucial role in the development of the banks BESS funding strategy and closed several BESS (junior) debt financings. As uncontracted revenue streams affect the ability to borrow and apply leverage, battery storage developers frequently face financing gaps and lengthy funding processes. In order to accelerate the development and deployment of BESS assets, Berenberg´s experience and knowledge can be a competitive advantage and strategic enabler to realize your growth ambitions.
Before joining Berenberg in 2022, Eike worked over six years with DZ BANK´s international project finance team covering renewable energy, public private partnerships, bridge and fund financing as well as sale and lease back solutions. He started his career as a bank clerk in 2008 after which he studied international business and economics in Osnabrück, Buenos Aires, Edinburgh and Passau. Eike is a CFA charterholder and fluent in German, English and Spanish.
Berenberg set-up several debt funds with AuM of more than EUR 1bn to fund renewable energy, energy transition and digital infrastructure projects. In 2024, Berenberg was awarded the innovative financing deal of the year award by Inspiratia as well as the best infrastructure debt asset manager award by Scope.
